DISTANCE LEARNING IN EFFECT
"None of us ever imagined what COVID-19 would bring: the closure of public school buildings, remote teaching
and learning from home, and distancing from each other to remain safe." - Richard A. Carranza, NYCDOE Chancellor.
During the most challenging and difficult time, Our mission is to provide all our students the best possible way to quickly adapt, and thrive in this new learning environment. Below, you will find useful information on how we have organized distance learning experiences for our students and resources to support their learning.
Important information will come to students and families by email and the Remind App. It is very important that students check their HSMC email daily for up to date news and assignments.
The platforms and resources we will use are Google Classroom and Google Meet for video conferencing. If you need any guidance and some crash course on using these platforms, feel free to browse to the list on the right-hand side of this screen.
At this time, students will not report to school buildings for instruction. School buildings are closed for the remainder of the 2019 - 2020 school year.
ASSIGNMENTS SUBSTITUTION SCHEDULE
To help make things easier for our students, we implemented a weekly schedule to submit assignments to their teachers in Google Classroom.
Mondays - Science
Tuesdays - English & ESL
Wednesdays - Math
Thursdays - Social Studies & Spanish
Fridays - Physical Education, Health, Arts (Including Media Arts)
Students are responsible for pressing the 'submit' or ‘turn in’ button each time they have completed an assignment.
The official attendance is being taken through the Attendance Google Classroom which has Ms. Russo as the teacher. At this time, teachers are posting a check-in question on the assignments are due in their class
If a student is having a problem completing assignments, they should let the teacher or their Guidance Counselor know so they can assist.
